Savannah River Agate – Guitar Pick
30.38mm x 23.32mm x 2.10mm thick
Savannah River Agate is a mix of chert, quartz, agate, jasper, and opalite. It has marine fossils from Oligocene age (30-35 million years old). It is found near Girard, Georgia and along the Savannah River. The colors will very from shades of browns, yellows, reds, blues, greens, and white. However, this material is full of vugs (pits) or small cavities, and is problemic but it usually can be worked around. There will be couple pits in most of the picks but they are away from the tip. The pick has its own sound and I believe the pits may have something to do with that sound. This pick has no pits. Also that is not a crack/fracture, if so it is completely healed.
